Rachael Smith

Executive Producer – The Garden North

Rachael joined The Garden in 2022 as an Executive Producer, heading up The Garden North.  Following a career as a BAFTA- and RTS-award-winning director, she oversaw the successful move of 24 Hours in A&E to its new home at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham – and has worked with the company on a number of projects over the years, including Keeping Britain Alive (BBC) and The Midwives (BBC). 

Rachael has also worked as a Series Producer/Director on series such as the RTS-award winning £1 Houses: Britain’s Cheapest Streets (C4), Educating Manchester (C4), One Born Every Minute (C4), The Cheerleaders (BBC) and Warship – Life at Sea (C5). Prior to this Rachael was a self-shooting Producer/Director, winning a BAFTA for her BBC Children’s documentary Me, My Dad and his Kidney and an RTS award for I Survived…9/11 and making a wide variety of other films and shows including Children’s Hospital (ITV) ,My Big Family Wedding (BBC), My Life: My Voice (BBC), The Midland Hotel (C5), Sister Rita to the Rescue (BBC), Karma Babies (BBC) and Karma Lives (BBC).
